From the Director of Neot Kedumim

Dear Friends,

As 2011 draws to a close, at Neot Kedumim we are pleased to note that we have had many accomplishments on many levels in the past year. Thanks to your efforts and support, Neot Kedumim is ending the fiscal year with a balanced budget after years of financial difficulties.

The time has now come for us to invest in further developing our educational facilities to the levels which they can and should attain.

In the coming year, we plan to develop a lighted trail along one of the central self-guided tour routes in Neot Kedumim, which will enable our guests to enjoy touring the reserve into the evening hours.  This 1,000 meter trail will be lit with attractive lighting and culminate with an audio-visual exhibit using modern technology to tell our Biblical story.

While the total cost of this project is significant, the Israeli government has committed to about half of the costs contingent upon our receiving the remaining funds from other sources.

The prophet Jeremiah says that the Lord has called the Children of Israel "a leafy olive tree, wonderful with good fruit" (Jeremiah 11:16). The Sages of the Talmud explained that the Children of Israel "shed light upon everything".  Hanukah which is soon upon us is the Festival of Lights. I hope that with the help of the Lord and your generosity, together we can use this exciting initiative to continue lighting the way for all lovers of Nature, Israel and the Bible.

Wishing you all a very Happy Hanukah,

Shlomo Teitelbaum,

Executive Director, Neot Kedumim
